LET THE MUSIC GUIDE YOU THROUGH YOUR TRIP

By Ombretta Di Dio

You might still have time to purchase a ticket for one of the most exciting music festivals in Europe, starting on October 31st and ending on November 4th. If you’re planning a trip to Iceland this fall, right before the long Northern winter will make its way in this enchanted country, you absolutely cannot miss Airwaves: an amazing celebration of anything inspiring, vibrant and great the Icelandic and the international music scenes have to offer.

Five days to swing from one special venue to the other, to enjoy Reykjavík’s best clubs, find the biggest after party and meet thousands of people from every side of the globe. All while discovering the Icelandic capital, a perfect scenario for music happenings: small, culturally diverse and full of history, art and incredible local food.

Just outside of the city, you will be able to admire geysers, waterfalls and lava fields that make Iceland famous and unique in its genre, all over the world. The entire experience will be a perfect combination of fun and nature-discovery, between a breath-taking band and the other.

This festival was started in 1999, when it took place in an airplane hangar and was repeated yearly ever since, welcoming names like The Shins, Flaming Lips and Fatboy Slim.

The 2012 line-up will include, among others, bands like Sigur Rs and Sley, proving what Rolling Stones magazine have before claimed about Airwaves: “The hippest long-weekend on the annual music festival calendar”.

Make your trip to Iceland an unforgettable getaway and find which of your favorite artists will be playing this year here.
