NO MORE MEALS ALONE By Emily King Traveling alone is a great way to see the world, but many female travelers do not feel comfortable eating by themselves in foreign countries. One new website offers solo women explorers a virtual meeting place to find other lone women who would like to share a meal.     Inspired by a radio conversation of females discussing their love of solo travel but their hate of eating alone, Cressida Howard founded website Invite For A Bite (IFAB) to help women find friends around the globe. The site has only been active for two months and already has a huge array of postings from all over the world. IFAB is free, and users create profiles so women can browse their potential new friends.     While still in its infancy, IFAB could turn out to be a great way for female travelers to connect with local women of different cultures. There are a slew of postings of solo diners looking for friendly conversation across the UK and US; Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, and China also have many meal-seekers. Right now the site is mostly used by business women in the US to find companions while on a lunch break from meetings or conferences or by ladies seeking new friends to try out a new local restaurant.   A handful of backpacking and hostel-hopping vagabonders post on the site looking for buddies willing to try out weird foods and experiences, and as the site grows there are sure to be more opportunities to meet up with interesting strangers in exotic locations. Some “IFABbers” offer group meals at their homes, offering a unique chance to meet with a group of local and traveling women in a very intimate and personal setting.   The site isn’t just for enjoying new cuisine with another solo traveler--posts for bungee jumping, snorkeling, and other adventures are also common. If you are a solo-traveling woman, IFAB is a low-risk way to meet like-minded world wanders and enjoy the many adventures and foods to be found on your trip.
